Marie talks about her experience performing Rossini's opera, Otello, in Paris at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Cecilia Bartoli, Ensemble Matheus, and Jean-Christophe Spinosi. Recording the podcast from Paris on the night of the final performance, Marie discusses the production, Rossni's opera itself, and some of the atmosphere surrounding the controversial natures of the performances. This production marked Bartoli's return to the Paris opera scene in her first staged opera there for 20 years. Conducted by the "enfant terrible" of classical music, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, this was a production wrapped up with history, drama, and controversy.

A Fascinating Podcast! I love the way Marie highlights the brilliant parts of this Production but also comments on lost opportunities, such as the harp piece being wasted due to its presentation on an old Victrola. I am learning so much and enjoyed the explanation and stories about "Insertion Arias." Now I need to see the YouTube videos Marie has suggested. A FABULOUS Podcast! Thank-you!

A look at Rossini's Otello from the inside, the outside, and through the years. This is the absolute best podcast yet. It is crammed with new information and insight on a breathtaking opera performance. Marie has certainly outdone herself this time. What else can I say, give it a listen and see if you agree.
